Responsible for identifying, apprehending, and filing cases to include testifying in court, frequently on cases which drew not only local but national media attention. During tenure as a police officer, selected in 1983 as Third Shift Patrol Officer of the Year and again in 2010 as the Criminal Investigation Detective of the Year. Frequently called upon to teach new detectives investigative techniques including interview and interrogation. Also frequently called upon to teach defensive tactics to officers at the Fort Worth Police Academy.

- As a 7th Degree Black Belt, currently the owner and Chief Instructor of the Martial Arts School. Teach numerous classes weekly to children and adults, including adult Police Officers in the skills of self-defense. Also manage and coordinate a staff of Black Belt Instructors who are also students. The school is a Christian Martial Arts training center that mentors many at-risk young people.

Grandparents of four grandsons and one granddaughter by two sons, Cole and Jacob. I enjoy watching their activities.

Teach martial arts and attend seminars and tournaments.

Own horses and participate in riding and team roping. In the past, I participated in rodeo including rough stock events and roping events. Also participated in ranch work by horseback, and as a result I am a confident horseman. I am very knowledgeable of the cowboy way of life. My wife and I team rope together.

We enjoy skiing in the Colorado Rockies.

My wife and I each own and love to travel throughout the country on our Harley Davidson motorcycles.

A special hobby of mine is the study of and emersion into the Spanish language. Though not fluent yet, I intend to be in the near future.

I most enjoy spending time with my wife doing things together and traveling together.
